Thomas More

Thomas More (1478 – 1535) lived his life amidst intellectuals; one of his friends was, for example, Desiderius Erasmus. More wrote the infamous book Utopia, about a socialist ideal state. He was member of parliament in England and counselor to Henry III. The latter executed hem in the end, because More refused to except Henry’s divorce and his rupture with the catholic church in Rome.
